Dr Kotzè

Completed dentistry in 1975 (B.CH.D.) at the University of Pretoria. In 1976 he did his National Service in the Army and also founded the Orthodontic Department in the National Defence Force. From mid 1978 to mid 1982 he did his post-graduate (M.Ch.D) study at the University of Pretoria. In 1983 he opened his private practice in Pretoria until 2003. In 1984 he completed the Advanced Clinical course at the American Institute for Bioprogressive Education. The end of 1984 saw his appointment as Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics at the Medical University of Southern Africa, part-time until 1989 when he returned to his full time private practice with branch practices in three additional towns. (Florida, Rustenburg and Pietersburg). In 1999 he returned to academics as part-time consultant in post-graduate Orthodontic education with specific responsibility fields of Bioprogressive Therapy, Practice Management, Diagnosis and treatment planning. Since 1984 he has been regularly asked to be an external examiner at South African Dental Faculties in both pre- and post graduate levels.

From 2001 to 2007 he was one of five International consultants at the Orthocentre Orthodontic Clinics in Holland where he was directly responsible for treatment plans and clinical problem solving in four of the fifteen clinics. Furthermore he was also the chief researcher and educator of Orthocentre, giving all the Orthodontic education to the Dentists managing the clinics and overseeing Orthodontic education of orthodontic assistants.

Hennie Kotze is a member of the South African Dental Association (Executive 1992-1994 and 1997-2001 being Vice President in 1995 and President in 1996, of the Northern Gauteng Branch.),  The South African Society of Orthodontists, The European Orthodontic Society, The American Association of Orthodontists, The World Federation of Orthodontists and the Foundation for Orthodontic Research.

Hennie Kotze has attended all Orthodontic courses and seminars held in South Africa by international lecturers since 1978 and also E.O.S. Congresses since 1998 and AAO since 2000. He held a one-day course in the Clinical Application of Bioprogressive Principles in 2002 to the Orthodontists of the Eastern and Western Cape in South Africa. A 5 day hands-on course in Early Treatment was given to dentists and orthodontists in Alp de Huez (France) in 2004 and further 2 day hands-on course on Early Treatment in Vianen (Holland) in 2005. He also acts as an advisor to National Health Surveys since 1991.

Since June 2007 he is practicing in Pietermaritzburg and planning further hands-on courses in South Africa and overseas.
